The Lafage Estate is expanded over a little more than 200 hectares, including stretches of heath and pine, 138 hectares of which is cultivated for wine-making. The dwelling of the manor is an ancient stone-built farmhouse located next to the vineyard-fringed road between Perpignan, the former capital of the Kings of Majorca, and the Mediterranean seashore. Hugging the 80 hectares of marine-land, where the now archaeological site of Villarnau was once a mediaeval village, the vineyards of the Lafage Estate dominate the surrounding grapevine. It provides spectacular views of the Albères, an extension of the Pyrenees mountain range, which forms a natural border between France and Spain before plunging into the blue of the Mediterranean. At the entrance of the Estate, a boutique offers wine-tasting and colourful commentaries to wine-lovers passing by. Read less

This is a really nice French white blend of grenache, chardonnay and marsanne. Light, crisp, almost like a Napa sauvignon blanc with nice white grapefruit pith, lemon lime sherbet, good acidity and a medium finish. Great QPR.

Blend of Grenache blanc, Chardonnay, and Marianne offers citrusy notes of lime and grapefruit along with a fleshy fruitiness.

Cote est 2010 is available for 7.99 at trader joes in the boston area. Great fruit, acid and almost tastes like if viognier and torrontes had been mixed. One of the winter wine deals of the yr

Crisp, racy & complex, with lovely hints of citrus, peach, melon & a flinty, mineral edge on the luscious finish. Outstanding effort! 93pts!

The Lafage 2010 Côté Est — comprising, as usual, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Chardonnay, and a bit of Marsanne — is delightfully scented with honeysuckle and iris, and its palate combination of juicy lime with the bite of cress, tangerine rind, and persistent inner-mouth florality put me in mind of some top-notch, lighter Gruner Veltliner. In fact, this harbors 13% alcohol yet finishes with a striking sense of levity, not to mention combining subtle but alluring textural enrichment via the lees with refreshing vivacity and intriguing, mouthwatering hints of iodine and salt. Look for it to prove phenomenally versatile over the next 12–18 months. As explained in issue 183, this blend is assembled as juice (not as wine) following a 12–15 day super-cold but gentle settling period for each variety and lot — just one of the many examples of wholly unorthodox Lafage methods resulting in something extraordinary, here above all in terms of uncanny balance as well as improbable price-quality rapport.

Roussillon, FranceLafage Cote Est Catalan is a delightful white wine gem from the Roussillon wine region of southwestern France. The wine's official appellation is Vin de Pays des Cotes Catalanes. Deep in this Catalan region of southwestern France, Domaine Lafage blends juicy, aromatic wines that deliver the rare combination of distinctiveness and affordability. Although only in his thirties, Jean-Marc Lafage already has almost 15 years of world-class winemaking to his credit. The Lafage Estate covers 200 hectares near Perpignan, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees separating France and Spain. David Schildknecht for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated this wine 90 points! Lafage Cote Est Catalan is an unoaked blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Marsanne. Super crisp and tank-fermented, this racy white is bursting with citrus, white flowers and minerals. Juicy on the palate, dry but ripe with good apricot and yellow peach fruit character. It is long and flavorful on the finish.Enjoy Lafage Cote Est over the next 2-3 years with roast chicken, grilled snapper, steamers, Cobb salad and goat cheese.
