This wine hails from Lirac, which is near the famous (and famously expensive) Chandacirc;teauneuf-du-Pape region. Consisting of a blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignan, and Syrah, this wine offers ripe flavors of raspberry and blackberry to go along with hints of cedar. A solid core of tannins gives it plenty of backbone to support the 15% alcohol, while the acidity keeps it refined and elegant. This wine rivals its more famous neighbor in both structure and intensity, at a fraction of the cost.
