FABU! Strawberry coulis with mint is what I get. LONG, smooth finish.
Tried this 8 months later and maybe wiser. I left this wine to breathe for 1 hour, and this time got better results. Nose was actually pleasant and smelled of fresh-cut cherries. The weird flavor is what I now recognize as garrigue. A decent bottle, but probably not for a casual wine drinker that may find the herbal aspects of the garrigue off-putting. I do agree with my former comment that this is more of a rustic than elegant wine.
I have mixed feelings about this wine. It definitely was unique to me. I don't mind it, but can't decide whether I like it or not. Nose was completely awkward at the pop. Some friends smelled shellfish, I did not but it was just a flat scent. It tasted much better after it has left to breathe for about an hour. You get a dry, complex taste of earth, pepper, wet rocks, damp cedar boards. Then towards the end, black berries. Had a good fiish. Tannins were noticeable but medium. It definitely had a rustic feel to it, like it would go with game food in an inn as opposed to a steakhouse. I have another 2 bottles and would be interested to note how I'd feel about this wine after a while. RP rave about this, I just did not get as excited as he did.
