Domaine Jean Bousquet Malbec Tupungato 2012

Member Review by mikebvew:

Below average Mendoza Malbec. Not a very high concentration of fruit or oak. Very unbalanced. High acidity with low tannins.

Jean Bousquet was already a successful winemaker from Carcassonne in the south of France in 1990 when he decided to relocate to Mendoza, and went on an extensive search for the ideal vineyard location. In 1997, he finally established himself in Topungato, attracted by its high altitudes (for superior grape balance), climate and rich soils. The wines are available in a line of Premium Varietals (includes Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Torrontes and a Malbec/Cab rosé), as well as Reservas, Grande Reservas and a sweet, late harvest Malbec dessert wine.  Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Plain and uncomplicated. Left for a while a sweet raisiny flavour comes out and overpowers any more subtle tones.
