Ripe and packed, but well-focused, with a broad beam of linzer torte and boysenberry fruit backed by graphite, violet and pastis notes. Picks up plenty of muscle and toasted spice on the finish, showing lots of latent depth in reserve. Very solid. Be... Wine Spectator. Bright ruby. Alluring aromas of framboise, cherry-vanilla, potpourri and smoky minerals. Completely stains the palate with sweet red and dark berry compote flavors sexed up by candied flowers and vanilla. For a wine with such flavor impact this is shockingly lithe, showing excellent finishing precision and persistence. And it's awfully seductive right now.

A prodigious effort, the 2009 Vieilles Vignes from Grand Veneur includes a whopping 40% Mourvandegrave;dre in the blend (thereandrsquo;s also 10% Syrah, with the balance being Grenache), which no doubt accounts for its dark flavor profile. This is a full-bodied, lushly textured, expansive wine, with a finish that seems to go on forever. Approachable now, it should age well for 10andndash;12 years at least.

The most limited cuvee (350 cases) is the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes (a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah from 50-100 year old vines located in the northern sector of the appellation). Its opaque purple color is accompa... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2009 Grand Veneur, Domaine Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 750ml
