Domaine Gerovassiliou Red Blend Epanomi Avaton 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

Produced by the Greek indigenous varietals of Limnio, Mavroudi and Mavrotragano; Limnio – also mentioned by Aristotle – is the oldest attested Greek variety. Maceration, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation are induced in Burgundy oak tanks and the wine is matured for 20 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is quite dark, concentrated, with complex flavor and is reminiscent of dark matured fruits. Its blackberry fruit shows spice and depth and finishes dry. This wine will reward years of cellaring (15-20 years). • Served at 16-18° C. • Best enjoyed with game, red spicy meat and matured cheeses.
