Domaine Gasnier Chinon les Graves 2008

Member Review by enotheque:

Artisan grown C.Franc from near the banks of the Vienne. The Gasnier bros craft ethereal wine, so much complexity and concentration seemingly on air, almost like culinary foam: Raspberry, frutti di bosco, graphite, violets. Wonderful to enjoy with a slow-roasted chicken.

I have a hard time finding any chinon labeled wine below a 3. Yet, none of them are exceptional. Les Graves has been the best of the lot on a consistent basis. If you need a bottle on-the-spot you can't miss. It makes the perfect introduction to a novice and a good value. If you think it is horrible you are either wealthy or a pseudo-snob. If you think it is great your last name is probably Gasnier. It typifies French table wine, good for every day drinking.
