Domaine Francois Raveneau Chablis Premier Cru Butteaux Prearrival 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Chablis Blanchots is deep, powerful and intense, particularly in the way it blossoms on the palate with layers of radiant fruit. This is a striking wine graced with an expressive, open personality that resonates through to the generous finish. I especially like the raciness of the fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. The 2009 Chablis Les Forets is long, pure and beautifully delineated. There is a centeredness and focus to the fruit that is compelling. White stone fruits and flowers frame the delicate, haunting finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019+.-Antonio Gal... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A similar but more complex nose offers more obvious Chablis character that continues onto the rich and nicely full-bodied flavors that possess an attractive generosity on the pure and solidly well-delineated finish. This should also drink well young as it is already approachable. Burghound.

This is completely different with its intense soil tones green fruit and oyster shell notes all of which can also be found on the relatively powerful intense and stony middle weight flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the austere lemon-suffused and tension-filled finish. Excellent. Outstanding. Burghound.

(from younger vines planted in 1999 and 1992): Pale color. Reticent nose hints at lime. Then open-knit in the mouth with good lemony cut to its sweet creamy lemon and pineapple flavors. This should be delicious in its youth for its primary fruit. Raveneau recommends using it as an aperitif. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
