Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Big black currant greets the nose accented with hints of a little truffle, black plum, cardamom and briar. This smells smooth and polished. Ripe tannins and fine acidity define the palate which shows off transparent, perfectly ripe black fruits. This is lively and detailed in the mouth, though the wood tannins seems to pinch the mid-palate just a touch at this stage. The finish is long and juicy, with a nice sweetness to help carry it through. 91 points

Bought this chardonnay after getting to try a few of there higher series montes alpha line and wanted to try and see what there entry line offered at about half the price. Picked up a chard and cab, heres my review on chard. Pours a nice golden pale yellow, nice citrus fruity yet restrained nose. The wine its self tastes some what oaky and creamy with a still tingling acidity and maybe a touch out of balance alcohol on the finish. The body of this wine is relatively very light. The heat on the back end tasted at room temp was some what of a negative. Will have to try again chilled more.... with a little more chilling it does become a little more smooth and creamy. For 8.99 its a decent bottle but not a home run, servicable.

The Monte Bello had an excellent balance of tannins and acidity and a delightful finish. It’s a young wine and still age-worthy, but it’s definitely drinkable now. The aromas and flavors included blackberries and currant, and just the right amount of spice and oak. This is not an overly complicated wine but a high quality Cabernet that is approachable and will be enjoyed now and a few more years to come.

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. This wine presents a nice mix of ripe currants, tobacco and weedy spice in the nose and follows up with like-minded flavors that are more complex than they are aggressively fruity. It is supple and balanced with inconspicuous tannins and is easy to taste if always a bit light on power and drive.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Mont Tauch is dedicated to sustainable agriculture and use of chemicals in only the dire of situations. Nearly 50%of their grapes are hand picked, a rarity at this price point.

This barrel-aged Chilean Chardonnay reveals buttery flavors and complexity that emphasize the union of refined flavors of tropical fruit and aromas. Full bodied and creamy in the mid palate and very complex

A retaste of the flagship wine, the 2007 Monte Bello (a blend from this famous estate of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc) reveals a dense ruby/purple wine with a floral, blueberry, and earthy cassis nose and elegant mid-weight flavors with impressive purity and classicism.
