In contrast to the La Riotte where the bouquet was nicely recovered from the bottling and the palate was agitated the Bel Air was still fairly closed from the recent bottling but the wine had snapped nicely back into focus on the palate. As I observed last year the Taupenots parcel in the premier cru of Bel Air are thirty years of age and these vines are now really starting to hit on all cylinders. The reticent nose on the 2011 offers up scents of red and black cherries gamebirds cocoa nutskins lovely soil tones and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is back on form after the mise delivering lovely focus and balance in its full-bodied format with ripe tannins tangy acids and a very good core of fruit. This will be lovely. 2021-2050. John Gilman.
Klares, intensives Quittengelb. Aromen von Passionsfrucht, Litchi, Mango und Quitten. Körpervoll und rund im Gaumen, angenehme Restsüsse verbunden mit Harmonie und Eleganz. Honigartiger Schmelz mit fruchtig-öligem Abgang.
Fresh and vibrant, tight and juicy, with blackberry and floral flavors, persisting onto a jazzy finish. Shows presence and intensity. Drink now through 2018.
Made with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot, the 2011 Guidalberto opens to dark, rich concentration and beautiful aromatic intensity. You really feel the weight and importance of the wine thanks to its shapely aromas of dark fruit, plum, spice and bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel is incredibly supple and the rich density is long lasting. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022. A lean, taut red, firmly grounded by dense, fine-grained tannins, with cherry, berry, spice and black pepper aromas and flavors. The finish echoes with fruit and spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Best from 2016 through 2027. 30,000 cases made. -BS
65% semillon 35% sauvignon blanc. Fermented in barrel then aged in 40% new oak. Planted on large gravel soils. A lovely mix of lemon rind grapefruit and other bright citrus aromas balanced with deeper notes of orange marmalade quince and a touch of beeswax. This is deliciously fresh and wonderfully focused with loads of grapefruit passion fruit and citrus. Medium to full in body with a long mineral-laden finish that gains verve from persistent and lively acidity. Enjoy upon release and over the following 10 years. Geoffrey Binder.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2011 Shiraz Viognier offers notes of ripe blackberries, cassis and tar with an undercurrent of mocha, raw meat and pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate is youthfully fruited and taut with a crisp acid line and low to medium level of grainy tannins, finishing long and peppery. Drink it now to 2016+.
