Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Predominant notes of honey, rose, and lychee are well-matched with highlights of ginger spice, apple and passionfruit. Also there was a curious, but very pleasant grassy quality. On the palate there was a hint of sweetness, honey, dried pineapple, and the characteristics on the nose replayed. The warm finish and very good length made it oddly suited to winter sipping. The wine was wonderfully balanced, with a round, creamy touche bouche until late in the palate, where it thinned out to reveal the drier nature of this gewurz. The 2004 Reserve from Turckheim was a superb example of a off-dry gewurztraminer, and reminded me somewhat of a far less sugary, subtler version of a well-done vidal icewine.
