Domaine du Vieux Chateau Montlouis Sur Loire Moelleux 2002

Member Review by duncan 906:

This bottle of wine was part of a lot I bought on the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/42221.Montlouis-sur-Loire is an AOC created in 1938 for white and sparkling wines made from the chenin blanc grape, sometimes called 'pineau de la Loire'The appellation is located on the south bank of the river Loire opposite Vouvray on the northj bank.Domaine Moyer [ www.domaine-moyer.fr ] is a very old 11 hectare estate that has been owned by the Moyer family since the mid 19th century and is now in the hands of brothers Damien and Michael Moyer. They make a selection of white and sparkling wines but do not make a sweet Moelleux every year but only if weather conditions are suitable late in the growing season.I drank my bottle the other evening with my supper of gammon steak with which it went very well.It is certainly a sweet wine and it is also a very fruity one reminding me of pineapples and apricots as well as citrus.I thought this a lovely wine.
