Domaine du Tariquet Vin de Pays Ugni Blanc Colombard Classic 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

88 points and 'Best Buy,' Wine & Spirits: Tariquet's flagship, this is classic Gascogne white, lemony-bright and shot through with crisp acidity. It's simple and palate whetting, especially with a platter of plump, briny clams. (Jun 2014)

The Grassa family farms over 2,400 acres of vines in Gascony, producing both Bas-Armagnac brandy and fine wines.   In the early 1980s, Yves Grassa revolutionized both the family estate and winemaking in the region when he planted non-traditional varieties Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc alongside classic Armagnac grapes Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng. Yves crafted innovative blends including Chenin Blanc-Chardonnay and a co-fermented Sauvignon Blanc-Chardonnay.   The Grassa family prides itself on its revolutionary approach while holding a deep respect for nature’s influence. From the vineyards to the technologically advanced winemaking facility, great measures are taken to ensure the quality and freshness of the finished wines. In the vineyards, they employ sustainable farming methods, including the use of natural fertilizers.   Yves’ sons, Armin and Remy, are the third generation of the Grassa family to lead Domaine du Tariquet. They took over management of the estate from their father in 2008 and have continued the family tradition of excellence and innovation. The brothers share winemaking duties equally, working as partners in the cellar. @font-face { font-family: "Times"; }@font-face { font-family: "Verdana"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; } @font-face { font-family: "Times"; }@font-face { font-family: "Verdana"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; } @font-face { font-family: "Times"; }@font-face { font-family: "Verdana"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; } Read less

Average chard - some nice oak (barrel fermented), spicy finish and decent fruit

Juicy and gingery, this is happy wine, a light and pretty mix of pear and green-plum flavor. Give it a chill to emphasize its bright, invigorating acidity.

Juicy, with hints of lushness to the baked apple, spice and ripe pear flavors. Notes of honey and cream show on the finish. Drink now.

Superbly intense for a dry fruity white, its bouquet reveals floral and citrus aromas with nice touches of tropical fruit. Despite the tropical theme it was crisp and focused, yet quite flavorful at the same time. Light and well-balanced, this wine is a thirst-quenching pleasure.

Weingut: AntinoriRegion: Italien, ToskanaRebsorten: 90% Sangiovese, 10% MerlotInhalt: 0,75 LiterAlkoholgehalt: 13 Vol.%Säuregehalt:  5,5 g/LiterRestsüße: 1,5 g/LiterLagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab JahrgangEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 12-16°C      Auszeichnungen**90 Wine Spectator Punkte (Jhg. 2004)**15 Vinum Punkte (Jhg. 2001)**86 Wine Spectator Punkte (Jhg. 2001)**86 Wine Spectator Punkte (Jhg. 2001)**Sehr gut, deutlich über dem Durchschnitt - Weinwelt (Jhg. 2000)**89 Wine Advocate Punkte (Jhg. 1999)**Recommended - Decanter (Jhg. 1999)**15 Vinum Punkte (Jhg. 1999)**89 Wine Advovate Punkte (Jhg 1998) Suche nach Rebsorten > Rote Rebsorten

A powerful, yet elegant Chardonnay with buttery flavors, toasted bread and vanilla notes on the palate. This rich wine that remains fresh throughout each sip pairs beautifully with a roasted chicken.
