Gaillac, FranceDomaine du Moulin Gaillac is a red wine gem from the Gaillac appellation of Southwest France. The Gaillac AOC straddles the Tarn river, approximately fifty kilometers northeast of Toulouse. Perhaps as a result of its location on the river, which facilitated transportation to other regions, Gaillac was one of the first viticultural centers of ancient Gaul. Grapes have been cultivated here for making wine since the first century A.D. This venerable Gaillacoise domaine has been passed from father to son in an unbroken line of Hirissous since 1827. The current proprietors, Jean Paul and Nicolas, represent the fifth and sixth generations of vignerons to run the estate.Domaine du Moulin Gaillac is a red blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Duras, a grape which is grown almost exclusively in this AOC. It is deep garnet red in color with a beautiful nose of blackberries, black currants, pepper, smoke and garrigue. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it offers intense flavors of cassis, dark berries and spice. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 4-5 years, it is rich with lingering fruit on the finish.Enjoy Domaine du Moulin Gaillac as an ideal accompaniment to steak, grilled lamb, cassoulet, burgers and ripe cheeses.
