Domaine du Castel Blanc du Castel Haute Judee 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2014 Chardonnay Blanc du Castel was fermented and aged on its lees in French oak barrels (only one third new) for 11 months. It was fined, but not filtered. Showing its oak too much in its youth, this is laced with caramel nuances on the finish. That said, new wines often show their oak and there is reasonable depth and good balance here, too. It pulls in the oak a bit as it sits (although it was still prominent the next day), and it shows a bit of tension on the finish, too. It has an underlying freshness to it that should allow its fruit to triumph. This will ultimately be fine--and then some. You can approach it now if you must, but if you give it a year or two in the cellar, it will show much better. It should hold well thereafter for the better part of a decade, at the least." - *Wine Advocate, 92 pts.*
