Deep color and excellent clarity. Aromas of rose petals, violets and spices. On the palate, the texture is lush and mouth-coating, but well-balanced. Refined, silky tannins are noted on the finish.
"In typically French (and confusing) fashion, the Domaine Drouhin wine labeled simply as 2010 Pinot Noir (and labeled for the A.V.A. “Willamette Valley”) is always referred to by their staff, including on price lists, as “classique,” even though any of us who encounter a bottle without further context would never know this! Clear, clean, bright, fresh red currant and sour cherry supply the sappy fruit fundament for this polished and downright refreshing Pinot with subtle suggestions of beef marrow supplying a satisfying undertone. I would plan on following it for up to half a dozen years, though, because it might well become more interesting while retaining its basic sensual appeal..." WA 08/12 "Vivid red. Fresh red berries, cherry and potpourri on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, tightly focused raspberry and cherry flavors are complemented by deeper notes of cola and licorice, with a spicy quality adding bite. Finishes silky and sweet, with very good energy and lingering florality...91" IWC 07/12
