Domaine Drouhin Cuvee Laurene Pinot Noir Ddo Oregon Ml 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): The 2006 Pinot Noir Laurene is medium/dark ruby colored with an alluring perfume of pain grille, mineral, spice box, cherry, and black raspberry with some blue notes in the background. It has more depth and concentration than the 'cuvee classique' with gobs of sweet, ripe fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years and a 45-second finish. Drink it from 2012 to 2021. Domaine Drouhin remains one of the standards against which other Oregon Pinot Noirs must be measured. (Oct 2008)

Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since our first plantings, and we continue to set the pace. The 90 acres of hillside vineyards that ribbon our 225-acre estate are at the very heart of Domaine Drouhin wines. Philippe Drouhin is in charge of all of the estate vineyards in Oregon & Burgundy & it is his vision & passion that drives our advances & improvements in winegrowing year after year. Situated atop the Dundee Hills, between 400 and 800 feet in elevation, our site was selected for its remarkable similarity in climate, latitude and aspect to the legendary vineyards of Burgundy. DDO places more emphasis on viticulture than most producers in America. Our vines are perhaps the most densely-planted in the New World, with an average of 3,300 plants to the acre. We are also one of the few vineyards in the country to cultivate our own rootstocks and propagate all of our own plant materials. This allows us to further our vineyards with site specific rootstocks and plants. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Made from the top 90 barrels of pinot. Great terrior feel on this wine. Earthy mushroom nose with dark red berry. Heavier tannin. Dark feel on the palate and dark flavors abound. Will likely age nicely. Should be great with food. More time should be a plus. - Tasted at winery 8/17/10

($65) Smooth and focused, this well-mannered, medium-weight wine has fresh, ripe currant and plum flavors, shaded with hints of white pepper and cream as the finish lingers easily. Drink now through 2014. Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from Oregon in USA. 2006 Drouhin, Domaine Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Laurene 750ml

On the nose and on the palate, there is a wealth of deep black berries, red fruits and Dundee Hills spice. The finish is very long.

91 Points - International Wine Cellar"Medium red. Fresh raspberry and sandalwood on the nose, with rose and cocoa adding complexity. Pliant red berry and dark cherry flavors boast impressive sweetness and purity, with bitter chocolate gaining strength with air. Finishes with excellent lift and cut, repeating the cherry note."91 Points - Wine Spectator"Smooth and focused, this well-mannered, medium-weight wine has fresh, ripe currant and plum flavors, shaded with hints of white pepper and cream as the finish lingers easily.
