Editorial Reviews for Domaine Drouhin Arthur Chardonnay
With a little almond, smoke and a hint of Quince on the nose, this is rather gentle. Emerging top notes of flowers and a nice, fresh yeastiness. Bright on entry with fine acidity backed up by a lot of fresh fruit. Crisp and clean. Very finely focused, as well as lively and elegant on the fairly long finish, which shows a hint of orange cream. 89pts
Subtle and layered on the nose with an initial whiff of fresh oak fleshing out and gaining spice notes along with bright white fruit aromas. In the mouth this is elegance and well balanced it just glides across the palate with gently creamy and spicy oak influences adding support to the ripe pear and pineapple fruits that remain crisp in the mouth and through the rather lush and creamy finish. A bit much for my palate but really a fine showing in this style. powerful yet restrained. 91pts
Wonderful oak notes, it's like baked apple pie on the nose. Lovely creamy texture. Great balance and just the right kiss of oak amidst the fruit. Very nice! - Tasted at winery 8/17/10
This is a great wine with a very slight "oak" flavor and little overtones. It is a "purest" wine, well-worth the price. If you want a white that truly compliments fish, chicken or pork that starts and ends the same, look here!
I have only had the '05 and '06. We loved the '05 and were super-disappointed in the '06, which seems to have abandoned everything interesting about the '05.

Wine Tasting NotesOur Chardonnay Arthur has the beautiful, brilliant color of golden hay, with compelling freshness and minerality, and a long finish. As the wine unfolds in your glass, enjoy the aromas of magnolia, coriander, hazelnut, and acacia tree honey. Enjoy now and anytime over the next few years.
The 2007 Arthur has all of the delicate, floral aromatics we see from our estate the carnation and magnolia scents, with touches of lemon peel and other citrus fruits. Crisp on the palate, with a long finish.
Arthur's combination of freshness and natural acidity, it's roundness and texture. Balanced and complex, the 2006 features carnation and magnolia on the nose, with hints of toast and lemon zest.
Not yet reviewed; 2011 vintage rated 89 points by Wine Advocate: ...incorporates both tank- and barrel-; malo- and non-malo-elevage... delightfully scented with fresh lime, apple, and pineapple, which go on to inform a juicy and bright yet lees-enriched and subtly silken palate... Hints of chalk and iodine add interest to a sustained, slightly tart, and refreshing finish. This could well be more harmonious and complete in another year and ought to drink well for several.
