Domaine des Sénéchaux White Rhone Blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2007
Honours are shared here between Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Clairette, with alittle Bourboulenc added , quite literally, for good measure. The Roussanne isbarrel fermented and allowed to rest for four months on its lees; the result isa template of modern Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc. This is a genuinelyinteresting wine, with notes of pineapple, vanillin and pear, tempered byspice, firm acidity and a balanced satisfying sensation en bouche.
A blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Roussanne that saw some time in barriques. This is as old as I’ve taken my CdP blancs, and I did so with this bottle as a trial of curiosity. Pale yellow colour with developed nose of spritzy pear and lime skins. A dry, medium-bodied wine which still retains a good amount of rich acidity. Clean flavours of lime juice and pear skins. A straight forward wine that shouldn’t be kept any longer. Awesome with seared scallops with diced basil and tomatoes. Drink immediately. 89-90/100.
