Domaine de Nalys Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2012
Very inky dark in the glass. Some leathery aromas, but also spicy ones--cinnamon? Quite smooth on the palate--surprisingly little puckery tannin. Fairly light bodied. Front of the tongue experience give the expectation of fruit, but the expectation does not come to pass. Very interesting. Certainly, easy to drink. There might even be something that white-wine-only drinkers who might go for this. US$19.99 at Costco.Add winemaker's notes
It´s a way of seeing things, being open to new ideas, never taking anything for granted, not being afraid of new technology and knowing how to adapt it to our terrain´s unique features to coax the very best out of it.

White Châteauneuf is extremely rare, and rich yet balanced examples such as this one are even rarer. Full of peach and white flower with a pleasing viscosity that is the result of partial barrel fermentation.
Dom. de Nalys produces some of the more approachable examples of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This red is made mostly from Grenache and Syrah, with small quantities of ten other grape varieties. Plum and spice notes lead to velvety tannins on the finish.
The 1998 Chacirc;teauneuf du Pape is excellent. One of the finest traditional cuvees Nalys has produced over recent vintages, it exhibits a dark ruby/plum color, as well as an impressive bouquet of sweet, candied strawberry and cherry fruit intermixed with pepper, dried herbs, and leather. The wine is sweet, rich, and fat, with kirsch liqueur, medium to full body, a nicely layered texture, well-integrated tannin, and a silky finish. My notes read ldquo;cherry liqueur galore.rdquo; Anticipated maturity: nowndash;2010.
Bright ruby. Fresh red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by tobacco and garrigue nuances. Energetic and spicy, with good mineral cut to the sweet red berry flavors. This taut wine needs some time to gain flesh but looks pretty promising.
Dom. de Nalys is one of the more approachable Châteauneuf du Pape. Made from mostly Grenache and Syrah, with 10 other varietals in small quantities. Plum and spice notes, with velvet tannins on the finish.
A pretty Chandacirc;teauneuf, this has freshness to its raspberry fruit and a slight floral note that gives delicacy to its firm, stony structure. Itandrsquo;s light for the appellation but lush, ready for pork roasts.
A touch rustic, with burly tannins and a braised chestnut note woven into the dark currant, fig and coffee notes. Fleshes out a bit on the finish. Drink now through 2013.
