Domaine de l'Hortus Coteaux du Languedoc Pic St. Loup Bergerie de l'Hortus Rose de Saignee 2012
A lovely pale salmon color, this rose is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre. Strawberries, red berries, and a hint of spiciness in the finish. It is crisp, dry, and refreshing. See additional wine reviews at: http://winedinewith.us/Add winemaker's notes
Nice to visit. In a stunning region of France the wine makery and vinyard are situated just of the main road. The tasting room is above the botteling line, which gives a true feeling of authenticity.

A deep rose color distinguishes this rose, made from the saignee process. Aromas of soft strawberry and wet stone lead to a cranberry and strawberry palate with a bit of mineral and stone on the finish. Much better than the Chateau d'Aqueria, and less money, too. Good with grilled tuna, fried chicken, poached salmon.
The colour on this wine is a very dense, dark purple. It's tight on the nose with aromas of dark fruit and a clear earthiness, hints of oak and chocolate. The palate is also tight, with much structure. Tannins are quite grippy. Fruits and oak comes through on the finish, which is quite long. There is potential here, I'd say this needs a year in the cellar to mature and set, and should evolve further over the next five or six. Will pair very well with more complex dishes with for instance lamb - a great alternative to a Rhône of the same style and blend.

What an experience this wine was! Notes of pepper and grass.
Extremely good value for money. Delicate Grenache Syrah Merlot. Made from 20y/o vines, handpicked, aged 3 monthes in 50% new Allier oak.
