Domaine de l'Ameillaud Côtes du Rhône 2007

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

A deep garnet wine, it has aromas of ripe, purple plums, black pepper, tarragon and cocoa, followed by flavors of dark cherry, fig, blackberry, tar dust and licorice. The wine is bright, crisp and plummy with a good, zesty finish. Enjoy with grilled lamb chops or Boeuf Bourguignon. Consider decanting it, as it is young, but buy a case, because it will be even better next year! Food pairing: pasta, poultry, red meats Flavor type: fruit-forward Body type: medium Finish: rich

Forward, with roasted fig, blackberry jam and sweet spice notes. The round, juicy finish lets the fruit linger nicely, with a graphite hint for added definition. Drink now.

Supple and rich, this Rhandocirc;ne is brimming with flavors of black cherry and sweet spices. The tannins are firm but remain balanced in a smooth and velvety body. The aftertaste lingers with earth and a hint of licorice.

Although the bouquet does include a rather odd nutskin component, it's also filled with enough bold cherry scents to compensate. The slightly creamy texture shows plenty of ripe fruit character, while picking up complex spice notes on the finish.
