Domaine de la Vougeraie was established in 1999 to bring together several extraordinary vineyards acquired over the years by the Boisset family; this union symbolized a new beginning for the vineyards inspired by a profound philosophy of excellence! Jean-Charles Boisset and his sister Nathalie chose to name this new winery after their parent’s house, La Vougeraie, as a nod to the domain’s large vineyard concentration in their hometown of Vougeot and as well as a tribute to their childhood roots and a challenge for the future. Convinced that sustainable practices are an essential part of making exceptional wines, the Boisset family chose to shift their farming practices of the new unified vineyards to biodynamic and organic farming. Since 2006, 100% of our vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert, although the majority had already received their certification several years before. Biodynamic practices are employed in all of our premier and grand cru vineyards. Read less

Bearing in mind thet the 2009 has not yet left Premeaux Prissey yet, how can anyone make a comment in what it's like? The '03 was sublime, and personally I found the '02 rather severe and dour in comparison. Have tasted the 06, and liked it. However everyone says the '09 will be fabulous, and this wine is a Premier Cru manque [with an acute accent on the e] being just on the wrong side of the village border, just north of the Clos St. Jaques in the same strip, how can it fail?

92-95 Points "(from vines by the Morey border, 50% of which were planted in 1902). 50% whole clusters. An intensely floral and spicy nose that is wonderfully elegant and admirably pure speaks of wet stone, red currant plus warm earth and sauvage hints that transfer to the muscular but precise and mineral-inflected big-bodied flavors that possess copious amounts of dry extract that buffers the very firm tannins and allowing for perfect balance on the mouth coating and linear finish. A classic Bonnes Mares that will require 15 to 20 years to arrive at its majority." Burghound.com, 1st Quarter, Issue 41, Allen Meadows

91-94 Points "(from an exceptionally well positioned 1 ha parcel situated directly beneath Les Petits Musigny that is combined with another less well located .35 ha parcel close to the main road). 40% whole clusters. This is quite densely fruited with floral and freshly turned earth aromas adding interest to the wild and medium-toned red berry fruit. The delicious, intense and serious broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration with ample amounts of dry extract that partially buffers the chewy and ripe tannins on the long and less austere than usual finish."
