Domaine de la Tourmaline Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Christophe Gadais owns 100 acres of Melon de Bourgogne vines (some of which date from 1929) in and around the Muscadet de Sevre et Maine communes of St Fiacre and La Haye-Fouassière. Domaine de La Tourmaline comes wholly from St Fiacre, an area whose stony soils deliver a richer, more minerally version of Muscadet.

Bone dry with some sour peach. I actually paired this with a mustard glazed pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and carrots. Unexpected but perfect.

Light- to medium-bodied with a salty crisp mouthfeel and fresh lemon-grapefruit-melon flavors. Perfect for aperitifs especially popcorn pretzels and crackers. Excellent with seafood.

From vines located in the township of San Fiacre. Classic, steely notes of mineral and citrus fruit aromas. Fresh and a delight alongside oysters, crab or smoked salmon.
