Domaine de la Solitude Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Barberini 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

93 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): Slightly richer, yet still a leaner, more fresh example of this cuvee, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Barberini (70% Roussanne, 20% Clairette and 10% Grenache Blanc) offers up brilliant notes of ripe peaches, vanilla creme, toasted almonds and hints of brioche. Aged mostly in new French oak, it is a rich, medium to full-bodied white that has balancing acidity and freshness. Deserving of a classy meal, it should have 4-5 years of prime drinking. Drink now-2018. (Oct 2013)

Domaine de la Solitude:
The vinyard was first cultivated by the Barbarini family in the 14th century. The Barbarini's by then were wine makers of the pope that had moved to Avignon. The current owners mother is the last Barbarini alive. Expect a warm welcome in the simple tasting room. The Lancon brothers and their winemaker are very knowledgeable and speak English.
