What to Expect

Pinot Noir: Responsible for some of the greatest wines on earth - the exhausted red wines of France's Burgundy region. Pinot Noir is a notoriously fickle grape that expresses its origins like no other. It's a vine that needs to struggle to produce great wines but when it does the depth of flavors that range from cherry to cola can be explosive and the wines' bright acidity and gentle tannins make them approachable and widely appealing,

Winemakers Notes

The Domaine purchased most of the 6.06 hectares La Tâche in 1933,completing the vineyards by exchanging small plots in Les Gaudichots. Itstretches from the top to the bottom of the mid slope band which contains thegrand crus, thus covering a complexity of terroirs. It is a more flamboyantwine than Romanée Conti but needs a minimum of 10 years for all itsaspects, including the tannins, to integrate.

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 98-99The 2005 La Tache epitomizes the unique mysteries of Pinot (not to mention the character of a great site), with its aromas of game, musk, iris, star anise, vanilla, allspice, and naturally also an abundance of sweet, ripe, implosively tiny-berried fruit. Imagine a black Riesling. On the palate, a vivid freshness of fruit, pungency of spice and flowers, and melting away of what in point of analytical fact are abundant tannins, all engender an almost white wine dynamic of fruit-mineral call-and-response and clear, incisive penetration of flavors to every recess of the mouth.
