Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel Rosé la Dame Rousse 2008

Member Review by dynowine:

The Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2008 and 2009 are about the best roses I've tasted. The 2008 paired very well with cold Honeybaked ham. Mental note: Grenache and rhone varietals are the main players here. Both 08 and 09 were elegant roses with inviting noses of mineral and cooling berry fruit; in the mouth pleasant initial acid bite which promptly opened into a glycerin-covered rush of rich warm fruit and mineral with a hint of floral. Finish lingered quite a while with a gentle sweet, oily, mineral, floral taste. Well-balanced, nothing extreme, full in the channels that matter. Off-dry, medium read more...

Ideally located at the crossroads of Provence and Languedoc, the Domaine de la Mordorée produces some of the greatest vintages of the Rhone Valley : Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac, Tavel. Our philosophy has always been to produce the greatest wines possible. To achieve this goal we have selected the best parcels of land, the highest grade grapes and developed environmental friendly wine growing methods. The vinification and maturation of our wines combine both tradition and modernity. The fruits of our efforts were quickly rewarded with prizes, in the Paris Agricultural Fair as well as other fairs where we have won over 160 medals since 1985. The specialized press and the greatest wine reviewers, like the Revue du Vin de France, Wine Spectator, or Parker have acknowledged and praised the quality of our wines. Read less

Deep rose colour. Intense and rich on the nose, with plenty of candied aromas. "Zesty" on the palate, this rose is a classic Tavel, with a full bodied structure, good presence of alcohol (14.5%) and great flavours of strawberries, raspberries and roses. The finish is soft and long. Drink this wine well chilled for optimum pleasure. QC http://www.questionofwine.blogspot.com

Very pale, bright red. Jammy strawberry, raspberry and candied rose aromas offer good straightforward appeal. Fleshy red berry preserve flavors are round and soft, with a touch of sweetness on the back end. Rich and powerfully fruity; I'd serve this with spicy foods as it may be a tad weighty to drink on its own.

Bouncy cherry and spice notes run through this rosé, with a lingering hint of herb on the fresh finish. Drink now.

Ripe and forward, with a super core of cherry and golden raspberry notes. The fresh, spice-tinged finish is mouthfilling and juicy. Drink now.
