Domaine de la Mordorée Red Rhone Blend Lirac Cuvée de la Reine des Bois 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

We were particularly impressed by this Lirac in 2008. La Reine des Bois has a
majestic colour and come-hither nose, which marries spice-box and macerated
fruit, then a palate which is poised and very complete; completely delicious in
fact! Drink 2011-2014.

Ideally located at the crossroads of Provence and Languedoc, the Domaine de la Mordorée produces some of the greatest vintages of the Rhone Valley : Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac, Tavel. Our philosophy has always been to produce the greatest wines possible. To achieve this goal we have selected the best parcels of land, the highest grade grapes and developed environmental friendly wine growing methods. The vinification and maturation of our wines combine both tradition and modernity. The fruits of our efforts were quickly rewarded with prizes, in the Paris Agricultural Fair as well as other fairs where we have won over 160 medals since 1985. The specialized press and the greatest wine reviewers, like the Revue du Vin de France, Wine Spectator, or Parker have acknowledged and praised the quality of our wines. Read less

($43) Very ripe, but well put together, with a juicy beam of acidity that holds the plum, fig and raspberry ganache notes together. Turns brighter, with more spice on the finish. Rock-solid. A blend of equal parts Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, the 2008 Domaine de la Mordorée Lirac Cuvée de la Reine des Bois is 100% destemmed and aged in 30% old wood and the rest in tank. The wine shows good color and a deep, rich bouquet of cassis and ... Rhone Report, The. Light garnet hue. The attractive nose is quintessential grenache-a medley of raspberry, red licorice and white pepper.
