What to Expect

Rhone Blends are generally based on Grenache, though some blends may be predominantly Syrah or Mourvedre. The fact that these wines are blends gives the winemakers unusual flexibility in creating a finished wine. In the Southern Rhone Valley of France the styles can range from light, fruity, soft Cotes du Rhone to big, bold, age worthy Chateaunuef-du-pape. This blend is also very popular in Australia and the United States where they frequently go by the Moniker GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre) and exhibit the rich, bold fruit that both countries are famous for.

Reviews

Jancis
Robinson

Rating: 16/20 - As reviewed by Jancis Robinson Exceedingly dark! Almost cheesy on the nose and then sumptuously sweet on the palate. Very very modern style, to the extent of even tasting vaguely of coconut. Not for me but some may like its push to the limits of extraction.

Definitely a winner. Not the typical spicy Rhone but a nice smooth drink.

"Powerfully ripe, with raspberry and boysenberry fruit that never gets heady, thanks to the racy structure, and a long anise- and graphite-filled finish. An impressive display. Drink now through 2009...91." WS 10/07
