Domaine de la Croix Rose Eloge 2014

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Since the mid-80's family owned Anderson's Conn Valley has turned out top rated Napa Valley Cabs and Cab blends. This wine is one of their most desired, a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. Robert Parker scored it 95 points saying "The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense, juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029." Limited!!

The consistency of "ELOGE" since 2002 is amazing. The 2008 continues the quest for perfection. The tannins encase both the softness and smoothness of this wine and then slip away at the right moment so that you can really enjoy the heart and soul of this gorgeous wine. The "ELOGE" takes you to the next level of wine enjoyment.

This is the perfect red. I have been drinking every vintage and when you say it can't get any better, the next vintage steps it up a notch. Robert Parker gave the latest release a 96-100 rating.

What an amazing wine! The perfect weight, well-balanced, complex and just plain delicious. A Bordeaux-style blend with a California soul.

Nice color and muted fruit on the nose along with hints of damp straw. Upon tasting, I notice refined tannins which hold together the dark fruits, vanilla, light touches of oak and a definite earthiness. The wine in my opinion is perfectly structured and has a finish that goes on forever. Year after year the "ELOGE" becomes more refined than the previous year.

(Review of November 2009.) We've tassted this wine on three occasions over the past two years, and it's been excellent eah time. Purchased for $40 at the winery during a nearly 1/2-off sale, this Cabernet had superb aromatics that reminded me of a top-flight St. Julien. Dark currants, cranberry, black cherry, and subtle violet-like floral notes highlight the complex nose. Structured very like a top Bordeaux - less weighty in the mouth and much less alcoholic than some of the bigger Conn Valley Eloge's of recent years. Perhaps it lacks a bit of grip compared to those bigger wines, but it is still a sensational Bordeaux-style blend, especially at about 1/2 the cost of current vintages. It's drinking great right now and will continue to do so for at least another 10 years.

The 2009 Eloge is a gorgeous, supple wine bursting with expressive red fruit, flowers and sweet spices. Here the oak seems better integrated and smoother than in the Cabernet Sauvignon, at least at this stage. Layers of red berries build towards the textured, totally inviting finish. This is a striking effort. In 2009 the blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021. - Robert Parker 92 Points

Since 1983 we have been family owned and operated by the Anderson's, and since our first release in 1987, Conn Valley Vineyards has been dedicated to producing world class wines. Our 40 acre Estate is located just south of Howell Mountain in Conn Valley.
