Domaine de la Cour Profonde Morgon 2002

Member Review by duncan 906:

This bottle was part of a lot I bought on the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/123514. Morgon is an appellation created in 1936,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for red wines from the commune of Villie-Morgon.This is located about 10 miles south of the town of Macon. Morgon is the second largest of the 'Cru Beaujolais' and like all Beaujolais is made from the gamay grape,a cross between pinot noir and a white grape called gouais introduced by the Romans. My bottle comes from a small producer in this area.I started my bottle last night with my supper of meat pie.It is a full bodied and well structured wine with plenty of a blackcurrant and blackberry style fruit with more than a hint of licorice, pepper or spice especially on the finish and soft tannins. In short this was a lovely bottle that would pair with many foods #

Domaine de la Cour Profonde:
Patricia and Cyril Revollat bought this domaine in 1997 and produced a range of red, white and sparkling Beajolais wines. Sadly after the poor harvest of 2017 they ceased trading.
