Domaine de Cristia Cuvee Renaissance Chateauneuf du Pape 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

The combination of different terroirs is ideal to obtain a Châteauneuf-du-Pape with finesse, density, richness and elegance, together with a great ageing potential.

RED WINES The grapes are selected in the vineyard, then destemmed before being put into vats. Three weeks of fermentation and maceration in concrete vats follow, with the use of indigenous yeasts. Temperatures are kept low in order to produce aromatic wines. We do not insist on any massive extraction, but prefer the ‘matiere’ to express itself. (Due to the way we work in the vineyards, the grapes possess enough concentration). The pressed juice and free-run juice are blended together according to the vintage. Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are aged in concrete vats and barrels for 18 months. Côtes-du-Rhône and Vin de Pays are aged only in concrete vats for 8 to 12 months. WHITE WINES The grapes are selected and pressed very quickly. They are fermented and aged for 8 months in a combination of barrels and stainless steel vats. Read less

60% grenache, 40% mourvedre, with the grenache aged in old foudres and the mourvedre aged in new oak. Although a touch lighter in color than the classic cuvée, the bouquet takes on another dimension. This is really packed, but amazingly suave and polished, as the huge core of braised fig, melted licorice, cassis and ganache is seamlessly put together and backed by perfectly embedded grip. The finish is hefty, but a mouthwatering note of singed ir... Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2009 Domaine de Cristia Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Renaissance 750ml

Vintage: 2003 02/09/2011

The brilliant 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Renaissance is 85% Grenache and 15% new oak-aged Mourvedre. Its dense purple color is accompanied by glorious aromas of creosote, crushed rocks, blueberries, blackberries, and flowers. With fabulous concentration, moderately high tannin, and a long, heady finish, this structured, big Chateauneuf requires another 3-4 years of bottle age. It should last for 15+ years.
