A full bodied wine with dense spicy plum aromas and chewy dark chocolate flavours while retaining elegance.Domaine Courbis dates from the 16th century and has been handed down from father to son since the start of the 20th century.The vineyards currently extend to 20 hectares (3Ha in Cornas, 13Ha Saint Joseph red) in the communes of Chateaubourg and Cornas. 18 hectares are planted on hillsides facing south and west. The wine cellar, built in 1980, is modern and is equipped temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.The wines of courbis are extremely high quality and are commanded all over the worldGrapes: 100% Syrah Region: France / Rhone / Cornas AOCMaker: Laurent CourbisNotes: A full bodied and satisfying red wine made from 100% Syrah with a hint of blackcurrants, raspberries and violets in the background combined with spice and smoky notes. Laurent and Dominique COURBIS are running the family domaine the origins of which go back to the 16th century. 32 hectares of terrassed vineyard belong to the domaine, most of which on spectacularely steep and south/south-east facing, situaed around the villages of Glun, Châteaubourg and Cornas: - 7 ha of "Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée" Cornas - 6 ha of "Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée" Saint-Joseph blanc - 18 ha of "Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée" Saint-Joseph rouge - 1 ha of Vin de pays de l'Ardèche The annual production averages a but 900 hl (hectolitres), which is the equivalent of 120.000 bottles. The average yield is of 35 hl (hectolitres) per hectare. The grapes are hand picked and brought to the cellar, where they are fermented, after an uncompromising selection. The winemaking remain quitre traditional, it's techniques passed on from generation to generation, lending the wines of the domaine their specific, well received style. Read less
