Domaine Chevrot Maranges Sur le Chêne 2009
The over-arching elegance in this wine is the first thing I noticed – from first sniff through the fair length. Laden with red and blue berries, there’s a lovely spiciness attributable to some whole cluster fermentation. A bit rough-and-tumble now, should drink well beginning in 2013-2014.Add winemaker's notes

External Reviews for Domaine Chevrot Maranges Sur le Chêne
"Sur le Chêne" is a parcel 50 year old vines planted in calcareous gravel with southerly exposition in Maranges. Blessed with lovely weather in 2009, it yielded ripe fruit that, when transformed into wine, provides an intense bouquet of floral raspberries mingling with vivacious acidity. The aroams and palate are complex - one finds hints of orange peel blending into licorice leaf. An ample finish and meant to accompany white fleshed meats or fresh young cheese.
Aligoté is a white varietal native to Burgundy and has always been popular for easy consumption in France. This comes from an older patch of Aligoté vines located in sunny Maranges. Its expression is of white flowers and citrus peel. The attack is of lively acidity up front that fades into supple ripe citrus and yellow apple notes. Since 2008, Chevrot has been certified by ECOCERT.
