Domaine Chevrot Maranges Sur le Chêne 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Located in the Maranges region at the southern entrance to the world renowned Côte de Beaune wine region. The Cheverot estate consists of 15 different appellations spread over a total area of 20 hectares. The different appellations are approved by the French national institute (INAO) which strictly control the origin, production and quality of wines in France. The cellar located under the house was constructed in 1798 and holds the French oak barrels in which the wine is aged. The property has its own winery, bottling facility and storage facility. This allows for control over the wine from start to finish. The bottle store room is thermo regulated allowing the wine to mature in the best way possible. "On the oaks" is a south-facing parcel of land on a limestone slope where the vines are already in their fifties. The bouquet wavers between subtle woodiness, green pepper and whispers of candied fruit - impressions that are confirmed in the mouth with echoes of ripe raspberries and dark chocolate mixed to produce a warm, solid structure on a delicate base. A few years in the cellar will help bring out the best of the harmonies, unless you simply can't wait to get a taste to accompany a steak on the bone or a pork roast.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
