Domaine Chevrot Bourgogne-Aligoté 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Located in the Maranges region at the southern entrance to the world renowned Côte de Beaune wine region. The Cheverot estate consists of 15 different appellations spread over a total area of 20 hectares. The different appellations are approved by the French national institute (INAO) which strictly control the origin, production and quality of wines in France. The cellar located under the house was constructed in 1798 and holds the French oak barrels in which the wine is aged. The property has its own winery, bottling facility and storage facility. This allows for control over the wine from start to finish. The bottle store room is thermo regulated allowing the wine to mature in the best way possible. The Aligote grape variety is exclusive to the Burgundy region and produces marvellous wines when treated with care. This 2007 is proof of that, with an initial bouquet of lime and flint, similar to a sauvignon. After a little airing, hints of rose and orange complete the nose. In the mouth, it is sharp with vivacity and fluidity, with a long aromatic ending, prolonging the pleasure with tinges of lightly peppered citrus fruits. Ready to drink, the Aligote will complement goats' cheese or oysters, unless you fancy going all out with sushi or a tuna Carpaccio.
