Domaine Chanson Santenay Beauregard Premier Cru En Primeur 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine is available for EN PRIMEUR purchase ONLY. With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. This Santenay Beauregard is dark ruby in colour with intense aromas of fresh red fruit (raspberry, red berry) mixed with chocolate and a delicate vanilla note. Deliciously Well-balanced and generous with a very pure aromatic combination of red fruit and subtle minerality. Fine grained tannins and a long and refreshing aftertaste makes this a wine sure to satisfy. To be enjoyed with roast meat or stew dishes as well as moderately mature cheeses.

In the XIX the Chanson Family took control and the company continued to expand under the leadership of Alexis Chanson. The Chanson family already owned a large Domaine located across Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses which was added to the company’s assets, thus giving it a new dimension. Chanson survived the Phylloxera crisis and continued to increase the size of their holdings. Visits by appiontment. Read less
