Domaine Chanson Saint-Aubin les Pitengerets Premier Cru En Primeur 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine is for EN PRIMEUR purchase ONLY. With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. "Les Pitengerets" is among one of the best Premiers Crus, located close to the famous Chassagne Montrachet. It shows pale gold with emerald tinges. Aromas of exotic fruit (mango) and hazelnut with a hint of vanilla are expressed in the nose, reflecting its beautiful, round and generous structure. There are also fabulous mineral notes with delicate hints of oak leading onto a long and linear finish. This exquisite premier cru is easily paired with similarly rich, luxurious dishes such as Foie gras, seefood, fish in a creamy sauce, white meat and a variety of regional cheeses, in particular Époisses, Roquefort and Munster.
