Domaine Chanson Père et Fils "Caradeux" Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru Bourgogne Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru Blanc Bourgogne France 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

With a history dating back to 1750, this fine Domaine was founded during the reign of Louis XV. When the Chanson family took full control in the 1800s, they already had substantial holdings in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, which they added to the business. Ownership of some of the top Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards in Burgundy remains a priority for the house. Their 45 hectare Domaine is managed by Gilles de Courcel and his experienced, dedicated team. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Confuron of the celebrated Vosne-Romanée dynasty continues to improve quality selection of fruit and the refurbished Bastion de l’Oratoire in Beaune is now home to a state of the art fermentation room as well as being the perfect environment for gentle maturation of their crus. The vineyard for Domaine Chanson Clos de Vougeot is ideally located in the heart of the famous Clos de Vougeot, nearby the Chateau. This superb Burgundy shows dark ruby, expressing intense aromas of blackberry mixed with leather and spicies with an outstanding vanilla note. On the palate it is powerful, generous and well-structured, a very pure aromatic combination. It displays notes of elegant oak and well crafted tannins and finishes with outstanding persistence. This exquisite wine is perfectly matched with red meat, grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local french cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.

In the XIX the Chanson Family took control and the company continued to expand under the leadership of Alexis Chanson. The Chanson family already owned a large Domaine located across Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses which was added to the company’s assets, thus giving it a new dimension. Chanson survived the Phylloxera crisis and continued to increase the size of their holdings. Visits by appiontment. Read less

Approachable and enticing fruity nose. Nicely perfumed red fruit. Layered, complex and evolutionary on the palate. Very delicious! - Schreiner's Winers 7/9/10

Sweet and spicy cherry aromas, echoed on the palate. A little rough and acidic, but it would be better with food.
