Domaine Chandon Pinot Meunier Carneros 2006
Pinot Meunier is the charming rustic cousin of Pinot Noir and plays a small but vital role in the blending of Chandon sparkling wines. Our vineyard property in Carneros seems to be the perfect home for this fruit, and once it has been romanced into a bottle, we believe its singular character deserves a place on every wine lover's table.
Domaine Chandon is one of the most recommended wineries in the Napa Valley, and the only one with its own 4-star restaurant. The winery established its reputation with sparkling wines, and in 1989, the winery began crafting still wines from the classic Champagne varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
Chandon's Pinot Meunier is fascinating little wine. Very attractive nose with a ton of fresh ripe red fruit and a slight herbal note. The palate is very similar with a medium amount of tannins, refreshing acidity and the same attractive red fruit flavors. It's a very easy to drink wine that I think would have wide appeal (it did with the people I served it to).
Very nice pinot meunier. More on the darker side with red cherries, cola and decent acidity.
1st single Pinot Noir vineyard ever for Domaine Carneros, estate grown and only sold at the winery. Aromas filled with pomegranate, cherry, vanilla. Palate extends to the varying red fruits and earthy tea leaves. A little tight and needs time but has incredible potential.
A really interesting wine. Firstly, how often do you see still varietal Pinot Meunier? Its very frequently used as part of the blend in sparkling wines (Champagne commonly), so its hardly a surprise seeing this made by a sparkling wine producer. Similar to an earthy pinot noir, this wine had flavors of cherries, with some sweet fruity notes and a core earthy undercurrent. Light tannins and a silky finish - again pinot noir -esque - in all it made for a new experience for me
Magnificent pinot! Taittinger can produce some great still pinot, for certain. This was awesome! -Tasted at the winery 9/21/09
The Mondovi Caneros got me started on these Pinots and I have been very happy with them thus far. This is a new wine being added to a wine list and I was able to drink the first bottle with the Wine Educator. With some help I was actually able to get the Earth and Animal from this one, but think it could really open up in good time.
A Chardonnay that's sure to please everyone with its simple, smooth and crisp apple and floral flavors.

Iandrsquo;ve always been a huge fan of Blanc de Noir (literally, andldquo;white from blackandrdquo;) sparkling wines, and the Chandon is a favorite for value. Produced from the noble black grapes of Champagne, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, this California bubbly is bursting with ripe strawberry, pomegranate and white plum notes, overlaid with lovely floral violet aromas. The tangy fruit flavors are lively on the tongue, and the mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing. Although terrific on its own (for sipping or celebrations), I love to serve this with salmon, canapandeacute;s or omelets.
A lively quaff this is soft and loaded with fresh strawberry and creamy spicy vanilla notes. Drink now.
Chandon Rose Sparkling wine has a dramatic deep pink color with a blush of sunset. Strong ripe strawberry, juicy watermelon, and fresh red cherry fruit aromas and flavors are interlaced with apple, pear, and stone fruit. On the palate, the wine is creamy and seductive, with defined structure from the addition of still Pinot Noir at triage.
