Chandon did well with this "sur lie" bottling. Dry, fruity, satisfying. Grapes from ours were from the 2001 harvest (opened 2009). American buyers may have been mystified by the crown "bottle-cap" seal (in lieu of cork). The label was dark and difficult to read. It was a slow mover - - we got 5 bottles posted off at $17.88 each.

Wine Enthusiast ReviewReleased at the same time as Chandon's 2000 Etoile, this is built along the same elegant, classic lines, but it's younger. fresher and, being a rose, quite a bit richer in fruit. In fact, it's extraordinarily delicious, a melange of sorbets ranging from raspberry, cherry and peach to lime and vanilla. The finish is crisp and clean. Should hang in there through the decade.Wine Tasting NotesIn keeping with the traditional rose winemaking method, we add a small amount of red wine (Pinot Noir) prior to tirage to create the distinctive salmon color with copper hues. The wine's aromas are rich and complex - floral notes with Santa Rosa plum, raspberry and nutmeg. These aromas follow through on the palate and are layered with candied ginger and pomegranate flavors, evolving into truffle, cocoa and earthy tones. The wine finishes with excellent length and richness that will stand up to a variety of foods.

Very fine, a smooth. silky wine with an elegant mousse, or quality of bubbles. Itandrsquo;s pretty full-bodied, wit subtle raspberry, peach, vanilla and brioche flavors. Easily the most complex and interesting of Chandonandrsquo;s lineup of sparklers.

A classy wine, with distinct Pinot Noir character built around ripe cherry and blackberry fruit, with hints of roasted grain and dough, turning rich and complex while maintaining a sense of elegance and finesse. Drink now through 2008. 2,000 cases made. -JL

Creamy, with citrus, cherry, herb and mineral flavors on the palate. It’s fresh, clean and focused, though a bit reserved for a wine with this much lees contact. Classy nonetheless.

With a deep, shiny color of copper and peach blush, you can tell this sparkling wine will be somewhat full-bodied and rich. And it is. Made from Chardonnay and Piont Noir, itandrsquo;s a big, flamboyant bubbly, rich in raspberries, limes and yeast. Yet it retains the delicacy and elegance of a fine sparkling wine.

Full-bodied and loaded with spice. Though this lacks delicacy, itandrsquo;s appealing for its bold raspberry, apple and spicy notes. Drink now.

Winemaker's Notes:

In keeping with the traditional method, we add a small amount of red wine (Pinot Noir) prior to tirage to create the distinctive salmon color with copper hues. The wine's aroma is rich yet elegant with plum and dark cherry fruit layered over notes of nutmeg and cocoa. A bold, yet refined palate structure characterizes this wine with subtle but persistent flavors of raspberry and French toast. The wine finishes with excellent length and richness that will stand up to a variety of foods.
