Domaine Chandon Chardonnay Carneros NV

Winemaker's Notes:

étoile Rosé sparkles with a brilliant salmon color, bold yet refined berry flavors and excellent richness and length. A small amount of Pinot Noir is added prior to tirage, or secondary fermentation, to create its deliciously distinctive color. The wine is aged for a minimum of five year sur lees to add complexity and sophistication. Fruit sourcing is from our most prized vineyards in Napa and Sonoma.

Domaine Chandon:
Domaine Chandon is one of the most recommended wineries in the Napa Valley, and the only one with its own 4-star restaurant. The winery established its reputation with sparkling wines, and in 1989, the winery began crafting still wines from the classic Champagne varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Lightly yeasty and toasty scents meld with notes of hazelnut and dried orchard fruits on the nose. In the mouth this is a bit coarse with an intense core of fruity apple, nectarine and citrus fruits. The finish is pretty short but offers a hint of marzipan to help add some contrast. 86pts

This is a really dry sparkler with yeasty, tart sour apple notes. I personally really enjoyed this wine.

This is my wifes go to sparkler. It has a good balance of yeast / toast and acidity.

This is a really nice inexpensive bottle. Notes of yeast on the nose and on entry, followed by crisp apple and sour dough. Overall, this bottle was very elegant for this price point.

Moet & Chandon established Domaine Chandon in 1973. In the hills above Yountville in the heart of Napa Valley they've been producing first class sparkling wines for over 30 years. This latest release was an Ediotrs Choice in Wine Enthusiast Magazine, scoring 90 points and reestablishing its position as one of the best value champagne-method wines in the world. West Coast editor Steve Heimoff noted the "Beautiful hazelnut, peaches-and-cream and vanilla flavors, with a touch of raspberry zest."

A crisp, balanced bubbly that offers plenty of honeyed flavors of peaches, pineapples and smoky vanilla. the yeasty, doughy notes are just fine.

A nice, everyday bubbly that offers elegance at an affordable price. Chardonnay contributes crisp flavors of limes, while Pinot Noir brings deeper flavors of cherries. A lovely wine that grows in the glass.

Lots to like in this dryish to slightly sweet brut. It has polished lime strawberry vanilla and yeasty flavors. The all-important texture of the bubbles is a little rough and scoury.

Soft and touch sweet, showing baked apple and toasty yeast aromas, with modest flavors. Drink now.

Chandon’s basic brut is balanced and harmonious, with flavors of citrus, pear, raspberry and vanilla, and an engaging edge of dough and smoky oak. Basically dry, but with a sweetly ripe dosage that makes it round and creamy. Best of all, it avoids sharpness, and is smooth.

Tasting Notes:

In keeping with the traditional ros_ winemaking method, we add a small amount of red wine (Pinot Noir) prior to tirage to create the distinctive salmon color with copper hues. The wine is elegant and restrained with fresh aromas of plum, raspberry and nutmeg. These aromas follow through on the palate and are layered with subtle and delicate flavors of cocoa powder. The wine finishes with excellent length and richness that will stand up to a variety of foods.
