Domaine Chandon Champagne Blend Sonoma County Brut Cuvée 2003
Pinot Meunier is the charming rustic cousin of Pinot Noir and plays a small but vital role in the blending of Chandon sparkling wines. Our vineyard property in Carneros seems to be the perfect home for this fruit, and once it has been romanced into a bottle, we believe its singular character deserves a place on every wine lover's table.
Domaine Chandon is one of the most recommended wineries in the Napa Valley, and the only one with its own 4-star restaurant. The winery established its reputation with sparkling wines, and in 1989, the winery began crafting still wines from the classic Champagne varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.

The wine was delicious but it was not what I was expecting from a pinot. It's a bit heavy for a pinot and has a very earthy, even bitter flavor that is more characteristic of a merlot. With that said, this is a very good bottle of wine regardless of what it's supposed to be called. I'd buy it again if I didn't have even better options at a cheaper price. If you want to impress your friend with a nice bottle with a respectable price tag this wine is for you.
Food Pairings for Domaine Chandon Champagne Blend Sonoma County Brut Cuvée
Honey, dried apricot and lightly toasted hazelnut aromas mingle with notes of citrus blossoms and lemon curd. On the palate there are distinctive honey and dried apricot flavors that broaden to reveal nectarine and candied ginger all wrapped in a texture that is defined by elegance and refined complexit
