Domaine Chandon Champagne Blend California Étoile Rosé 2006
In keeping with the traditional method, we add a small amount of red wine (Pinot Noir) prior to tirage to create the distinctive salmon color with copper hues. The wine's aroma is rich yet elegant with plum and dark cherry fruit layered over notes of nutmeg and cocoa. A bold, yet refined palate structure characterizes this wine with subtle but persistent flavors of raspberry and French toast. The wine finishes with excellent length and richness that will stand up to a variety of foods.
Domaine Chandon is one of the most recommended wineries in the Napa Valley, and the only one with its own 4-star restaurant. The winery established its reputation with sparkling wines, and in 1989, the winery began crafting still wines from the classic Champagne varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
Chandon's Pinot Meunier is fascinating little wine. Very attractive nose with a ton of fresh ripe red fruit and a slight herbal note. The palate is very similar with a medium amount of tannins, refreshing acidity and the same attractive red fruit flavors. It's a very easy to drink wine that I think would have wide appeal (it did with the people I served it to).
Very nice pinot meunier. More on the darker side with red cherries, cola and decent acidity.
1st single Pinot Noir vineyard ever for Domaine Carneros, estate grown and only sold at the winery. Aromas filled with pomegranate, cherry, vanilla. Palate extends to the varying red fruits and earthy tea leaves. A little tight and needs time but has incredible potential.
A really interesting wine. Firstly, how often do you see still varietal Pinot Meunier? Its very frequently used as part of the blend in sparkling wines (Champagne commonly), so its hardly a surprise seeing this made by a sparkling wine producer. Similar to an earthy pinot noir, this wine had flavors of cherries, with some sweet fruity notes and a core earthy undercurrent. Light tannins and a silky finish - again pinot noir -esque - in all it made for a new experience for me
Magnificent pinot! Taittinger can produce some great still pinot, for certain. This was awesome! -Tasted at the winery 9/21/09
The Mondovi Caneros got me started on these Pinots and I have been very happy with them thus far. This is a new wine being added to a wine list and I was able to drink the first bottle with the Wine Educator. With some help I was actually able to get the Earth and Animal from this one, but think it could really open up in good time.
A Chardonnay that's sure to please everyone with its simple, smooth and crisp apple and floral flavors.

Offers perfumed watermelon, ginger and anise aromas and straightforward strawberry, red apple and spicy yeast flavors. Drink now.
Full-bodied and dry. You can taste the Pinot Noir in the black and red cherry and red currant flavors. A bit rough in texture, but pretty good for the price. Will pair well with roast salmon or even a lamb chop.
Wine Tasting NotesThe Carneros Pinot Noir offers enticing aromas of black cherry, juniper berries, black currants, anise and cinnamon spice. Black cherry and red raspberry flavors dominate the palate with an underlying flinty mineral charm for which the Carneros region is known. The texture is framed by well-developed tannins and balanced acidity, and a lingering finish of dried cherries contribute to the wine's overall complexity.
Destined to be a classic, this 2006 Carneros pinot noir exhibits aromas of dried cherries, cedar and traces of dried tobacco. As the wine opens in the glass, underlying notes of vanilla bean and the fresh scent of a strawberry patch on a warm spring afternoon become evident. With a faint brick-red hue, this pinot noir tantalizes the palate with flavors of black plums, white pepper and blueberries. As a hint of bay laurel lingers on the finish, the bright acidity and well integrated tannins offer an alluring accompaniment to your dining experience. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
A lively quaff, this is soft and loaded with fresh strawberry and creamy, spicy vanilla notes. Drink now.
While this bubbly is technically dry it tastes sweetly infused with the essence of strawberries and vanilla. The mouthfeel is fine with a gentle scouring of acidity and the slight sourness from its lees. Drink it now with almost anything especially sushi.
