Marsanne, one of the great white grapes of France's Rhone valley, is generally blended with Roussane in particular. On its own it produces a wine, full and slightly waxy with rich nutty, spicy baked orchard fruit tones yet quite low acidity.

On an 80-acre fruit farm in Berrien County (Lake Michigan Shore AVA), grower Tom Fricke has challenged the uncharted with such vinifera varieties as Marsanne on his 13 acres of vineyard that replaced part of his tart cherry orchards.
