Domaine Bernard Moreau Bourgogne Blanc 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Moreau has two superb parcels of Chardonnay vines with different soils. One has pure, white limestone soil; so pure is the lime- stone that it is almost clear at the top of its steep slope. This site imparts a distinct minerality. The other parcel has a stony, red clay soil; its south-east exposure and slight slope ensures optimal ripening and gives the wine its structure and body.

Vintage: 2007 10/15/2009

Bernard Moreau is a grower based in the village of Mancey in the northern Maconnais, close to the Cote Chalonnaise. His Bourgogne Blanc is pure Chardonnay grown on parcels of limestone and clay. It is fermented in oak barrels, of which 15% are new, and then aged for 8 months. Bottled in June '08, this truly lovely Burgundy impresses with its ripe peach-toned fruit and subtle oak and ripe backbone. Selected by the Chevaliers du Tastevin in their 2008 judging as an outstanding example of its appellation.
