Domaine André Brunel Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau les Sambiches 2007
This is a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Carignan. 60% of the fruit is declassified Côtes-du-Rhône from vineyards in Travaillon, just east of Gigondas and northeast of Vacqueyras. All of the grapes are destemmed to allow the easy fruit to shine through. The wine is fermented and aged in tank to retain the freshness. In the glass this wine is grapy and easy drinking with very primary notes of cherry and blackberry along side of cracked black pepper. This is the perfect everyday red!
Bottle aired over 2 hrs. Light nose of hints of volatiles, earth, bits of perfumed floral. In the mouth savory and minerally with some slightly sour red berry fruit within a metallic tannic wrapper. Elements are in similar proportions (none seemed to dominate). Dryish. Body medium minus, acid medium, tannins medium.
Nice for the price 2008
Great Stuff!! Great Price too!

"Very direct, with a beam of raspberry and black cherry fruit that mingles with lively spice and fruitcake notes. Stays fresh enough on the light raisiny finish. Drink now. 4,000 cases made." (WS)
