Domaine Alfred Chamisal Vineyard Califa Pinot Noir 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 88 This limited-production bottling shows its cool-climate origins in the high acidity and barely-ripened flavors of cherries and rhubarb that have a slightly green, minty edge. The Califa designation is the winery's reserve style. Significant oak has added smoky, spicy layers of interest, but the wine is still fairly austere, and meant for early drinking. Wine Tasting Notes Our Califa Pinot opens with a generous, bold display of fresh, ripe red and black raspberries and dark plums in the nose and on the palate. The focused fruits are deftly balanced by smoky oak notes and hints of complexity gained by whole-cluster handling. Its already lengthy finish will continue to develop, powered by fine-grain tannins and classic Chamisal spice.
