Domain Drouhin Pinot Noir Oregon 2004
All of our Pinot Noir is handpicked into 25-pound totes, then hand sorted & de-stemmed at our four-level gravity flow winery. Fermentations are long & careful. By the middle of November, all of our wine was safely in barrel. We use approximately 20% new oak with our Pinot Noir, which allows the character of the wine & vintage to show through. Barrels are custom made for us in Burgundy, using oak from France's best forests. Our goal is to produce Pinot Noirs with balance, elegance & finesse.
DEDICATION TO THE DIVERSITY OF BURGUNDY With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations. A FAMILY HERITAGE For the last 130 years, Maison Joseph Drouhin has been in the hands of the Drouhin family. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm, animated by the same passion that inspired the founder of the company.
Nice Pinot! Fruity up front and a long finish. Paired great with a braised pork belly.
Showing its age with terracotta tints at the edge. A nose of cherries and violet. The acid is high and there are cherries and soy sauce on the palate. The overarching hallmarks of this wine are its supreme silkiness and the long finish. Much debate among tasters as to whether this vintage is past it, I think not at all.
