Dom Ott Selle Rose 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

The original Chateau de Selle, the Rose that made Domaines Ott famous. Delicious 2011 vintage, young and fresh, the way a Rose should be. Enjoy it throughout the summer. A golden pink color. The nose combines hints of peach, lily, and citrus fruit with finesse. A round, silky-smooth sweet taste, with a lively finish. Hand-picking, extremely selective sorting and delicate pressing of the grapes, and finally maturing in oak barrels, are just some of the reasons why Domaine Ott Rose has a reputation of being the finest rose in the world. A delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Cinsault. Domaines Ott winery is located on a former dwelling of the Counts of Provence, a superb 18th century country house in Provence. The surrounding estate, entirely carved into the rocky land by Marcel Ott, his children and grandchildren, has been remodelled and replanted several times over.

However, production did not begin in earnest until 1912, and took place among three estates: Château de Selle (Taradeau), Clos Mireille (La Londe Les Maures) and Château Romassan (La Castellet). In 1930, the Coeur de Grain rosé, for which Ott is best known, began being marketed outside of France. Today, this is one of the world’s most famous rosés.  In 2004, Domaine Ott joined forces with the Louis Roederer Group. Since 2009, Christian and François Ott have continued to produce the family brand. The wines are produced without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. In addition to the famous rosés, Domaine Ott also produces red and white table wines.  Read less

Summer favorite, with seafood, cheese, appetizers. Beautiful, refreshing, balanced, delightful, sophisticated. Finishes well, unlike many rose's. Worth every penny!

A rounded style, with full-bodied red fruits and a rich, silky texture. The wine still does have attractive acidity and a crisp grapefruit edge to balance it out. - R.V. Wine Enthusiast.
